In the time I have been teaching, I have seen patterns in students who are successful. I's like to share these tips with you as I know how much parents care about their child's educational success!
Successful Students...
*are rarely absent
*don't make excuses
*are respectful of adults and peers
*read without being prompted (both at home and school)
*carve out homework time
*are involved in various school activities (clubs, sports, games, dances etc.)
*consistently participate in class (in a positive way)
*talk to parents regularly about what's going on in school
*self-advocate
*check their own grades regularly
*take advantage of Wednesday Learning Centers (every Wednesday teachers are available in their classrooms from 8:15-9am)
*ask for help before/after/during school
*work hard to stay focused
*plan ahead
*CARE about their grades and their role in the education process
